PLEASE!
Let's think about this. How could an industry keep the people it wants in power, after 8 years of record profits. Oh I know, lower the prices right before the election, and make it seem like it came from the party they want in power to keep those record profits going.
Look at the history of the price of oil the last 8 years. Tax return from GWB and oil goes up to grab that money. As T Boone Pickens points out, the largest transfer of wealth in the history of the world. Expedited by the oil boys Bush/Cheney.
"Palin, stands up to big oil" Huh? She just got them a natural gas pipeline. How is that standing up?
Let's try this one more time. Only let's use cars for the example as the finite product. There are three Ferrari P3s in the world. Each one is worth about $1.5 million. A fire destroys two, the third is now worth what ever the owner wants to sell it for. Now let's think of oil. We have countries and businesses willing to sell us a product for $100 a barrel, that everyone knows will be worth $200 a barrel in the next ten years. Why should we sell our oil into the world market at $100, when we could buy, hoard, and wait for the $200 price?
Drilling for American oil to sell into world markets or to even reduce the price in 2008 is an insane short sighted policy.
