How 'bout them Browns!
Wow, that was worse than I could have imagined.

tell that to Ben Roethlisbergerdl meckes wrote:I think it's generally a problem to start young quarterbacks right off the bat.
I'm not sure how it's the quarterback's problem when the pocket collapses or there is no protection.
I can't fault the quarterback for throwing to a receiver who can't catch the ball.
One player won't save the line.

The current Browns' line is a lot better then the line that did not protect Tim Couch. Believe it or Not! Yep, the Steelers D dominated our offensive line but Charlie Frye is not exactly a mobile qb. Brady in the same situation (in my opinion) would have fared a lot better in this game. Brady Quinn is a better athlete and smarter football player than Charlie (in my opinion)..

I wouldn't throw Quinn into his first pro start against the Steelers.
Many teams would design their offense around a talented quarterback, find time and protection for him or even find someone who can catch a pass. We don't have that here.
And yeah, there have been some pretty spectacular rookie qbs, but again, they usually have some help. They aren't just hung out there as concussion bait.

Believe it or not there is some talent on this line and Charlie not getting passes off is not the total fault of the line.. Eric Steinbach blocked for Rudi Johsnon at Cincinnati. Hank Fraley started and played for Philly for about 7 years. Joe Thomas was a first round pick from Wisc.. And Jamal Lewis is no rookie. Charlies passing today was horrible even when he was not being pressured. Brady will not be concussion bait. He is very smart and appears to be more mobile than Charlie. But time will tell...

Charlie Frye stinks as an NFL QB. Of the 10 sack attempts on Charlie on Sunday, Charlie was sacked 5 times. Of the 28 attempts on Derek Anderson, he was only sacked once. That says it all. Charlie was a third round draft pick and we got a futre 6th round draft pick for him. Charlie will probably be the third string QB at Seattle. He will likely see little playing time in Seattle. I cannot ever remember a starting QB being traded after the first game of the season.dl meckes wrote:I'm glad Charlie Frye is going to Seattle. I think it may be the salvation of whatever hopes for an NFL career.

I can't think of an occasion when a guy went from opening day starter to dumped in less than 48 hours. Something is bizarre in Berea.
Wnat to place a little wager on whether Romeo lasts the season? Betcha Lerner is already talking with Cowher...

Triv said that the team may already be for sale.. Cowher would definitely help the selling priceJeff Endress wrote:I can't think of an occasion when a guy went from opening day starter to dumped in less than 48 hours. Something is bizarre in Berea.
