"but rents it and does not pay property taxes"
This is false. The taxes are included in the rent. When property taxes go up, do you think that the landlord covers it out of the goodness of their heart? The "renters not paying property taxes" thought is a very misguided opinion.

I think you missed the point. The whole point was that while this person has a right to their opinion and a right to write what they want, they do not live in Lakewood and cannot fully understand the issues Lakewood faces. Therefore, her opinion should be taken with a grain of salt, in my opinion.

Ah, come on, Lori. Seriously? One needs to be a resident to fully understand? That sounds like a City Hall-issued sound bite. I so appreciate your investigative exploits ... but please drop this nonsensical line of thought that non-Lakewood residents are clueless.Lori Allen _ wrote:....do not live in Lakewood and cannot fully understand the issues Lakewood faces.

Peter
And this is where we met.
Not clueless, they have no-skin in the game. Spectators, not participants.

Unless they have family that live in Lakewood, friends who live in Lakewood, might be planning on purchasing a home in Lakewood, maybe planning on retiring in Lakewood.... Many ways to have skin in the game.

Robert
It was referring to the first time Peter and I discussed this topic, skin in the game.
Owner? Renter? Business Owner? Double Business Owner? Renter? by years? Own more than one home. Want to live here, want to come back her. Never want to live here but are intrigued by our city?
For the sake of this conversation, a nod to Peter, and a clarification on the comment.
I personally believe the more you have invested, the more skin you have in the game.
At the same time, to discount the possible insight, intellect, or perspective on any subject from the rest of the world would be stupid.
