More anti-64 ads than pro-Summers ads?
In this day of targeted advertising it's hard to tell what's going on in the big picture, but it seems like I'm seeing a lot more firepower going against issue 64 than for Mike Summers. Is anybody else seeing this? And if so, what do you think their reasoning is?

Seems to me that Issue 64 is what the administration and LHA is most afraid of. The crazy thing is is that while they say that Issue 64 will "doom" the hospital (which is BS), that is the EXACT thing Summers has been trying to do this whole year but has yet to accomplish for his buddies at CCF. If Issue 64 passes, it's the LHA money that will run out and they certainly don't want that. What will be left for the new "Wellness Foundation"? Nothing left for Summers' friends...awwww.
The whole city would be in much better shape if Summers courted real offers to run the hospital instead of turning a blind eye/ear to them. The people would not be divided and he would probably be a shoe-in for another term. Only negotiating with the rapacious CCF will be his and Lakewood's downfall should it come to pass.

The Clinic is telling employees of the Hospital that if issue 64 passes they will close the Hospital immediately.cameron karslake wrote:Seems to me that Issue 64 is what the administration and LHA is most afraid of. I did find it amusing and annoying that the LHA and Mayor are telling us the Hospital must be closed but if issue 64 passes it will be bad for Lakewood because it will force the Hospital to close.
I think there is more at stake than people realize. The Clinic intends to pull out next year. Why do they care if 64 passes or fails? Why do they care if we don't let them build their small medical office building?
Maybe they realize that if the court case continues:
the court orders the Clinic to provide releases to other interested parties and someone will be very interested in a $140 million business within a five minute drive of 150,000 people.
the documents the Clinic is forced to provide will prove fraud on the part of the Clinic.
A successful independent hospital in Lakewood would put the Clinics entire business plan at risk.

If that's the case, why don't they go public with it as it is a far scarier scenario that will sway the election?Bill Call wrote:The Clinic is telling employees of the Hospital that if issue 64 passes they will close the Hospital immediately.cameron karslake wrote:Seems to me that Issue 64 is what the administration and LHA is most afraid of. That's a question for Team Summers.Dan Alaimo wrote:In this day of targeted advertising it's hard to tell what's going on in the big picture, but it seems like I'm seeing a lot more firepower going against issue 64 than for Mike Summers. I have what I think is a pretty good theory...but I'll hold it until after the election.

I'm guessing that they think they have at least some chance of influencing a new administration - the major power brokers aren't on the ballot - but that will be impossible if 64 is in place.
Also I'm guessing they have some idea which way the mayoral election will go and think 64 is a better use of their money.
