Gilbert Publishing - Bar? Coffee Shop?

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Rumors in the office today are that the Gilbert Publishing building was purchased by the same people that own McCarthy's Ale House?

That means?

FWIW

Rumor I heard last week is this is true. To add to the rumor I heard the new owners plan to tear down the building to build a new one for a coffee shop type place. Also, rumor has it the print shop might be moving to the Lake Erie Screw building. I forget what else...

Perfect, we can always use another coffee shop.

Any rumors yet on what is going to happen with the old Giant Eagle site?

Bookstore?
Clothing?
Restaurant?
Tee Shirt Hall of Fame and Museum?????

NE corner of Summit and Detroit. Right next to where Arrow Pet store used to be. :)

since we're already off topic, what about Cosmic Dave's? Are they about ready to go?

Was by Cosmic Daves yesterday, on the way the the Souper Market (What great shrimp bisque). There were workers and tools visible, looked like they were completing some counters/cabinets. Hopefully soon.

Cosmic Dave's is not hiring there, either. I interpreted this as they have their people and are ready to go. I called that number a couple weeks ago to help a client of mine with her job hunt and the message was "no longer hiring." I of course am going with the optimistic outlook.

I hope the bar/coffe house/movie store/pharmacy becomes a hang out for local police, maybe that will help that intersection from traffic light crashers (sorry, I had to chime in).

parking

Post by michael gill »

Since the rumor has it that the owners of McCarthy's Ale House bought the place, I sincerely hope the plan doesn't include buying and demolishing the first two houses on Summit to make a parking lot. That'd really suck for whoever lives in the third house.
