Would anyone like to get together and talk education?

Post by Sean Wheeler »

Jill Jusko's most recent post has me thinking about how great it is to sit and talk with people who care about education. Would anyone be interested in getting together and having an informal discussion about education at The Root Cafe this Saturday? I have a bit of time then and would love a Saturday morning filled with meeting new people and talking about the work my students are engaged in. If anyone is interested, I'll be at The Root at around 11 am and look forward to whoever would show up. It would be nice to put a face to the many names that I've come to know on the deck.

Thanks, Stan. I'll be there.

I really like the idea of asking a few college students to join us. I put an invite for Saturday @11 at The Root Cafe on my facebook page and I hope that few former students might join us.

Anyone else plan on being there? I can share some of what we're doing in my classes, with the grant, and why.

Sean Wheeler gets ready for the discussion of education and his program as people start to
arrive at the Root Café. Fascinating stuff, had to leave but Sean is on to something.

I'll be at The Root Cafe again this weekend at 11 am to discuss issues of teaching and learning. If anyone would like to chat over coffee, I'd be excited to learn from our community members.

I've been thinking about the implications of the following Clay Shirky video on my classroom and would love to hear your ideas about it on Saturday.

Sean--- I"m up for it again! Great session last Saturday and that video in conjunction with the events in Egypt is particularly appropriate.

Thanks for planning to be there, Stan. Egypt is where my mind went when I was viewing the video as well.

See everyone Saturday @11.

Sean

Sorry I got there late, but thanks for staying longer. Great conversation with some really good things
coming out of it. As I mentioned I have been working with some other teachers, and parents that came
to the Observer, and look forward to seeing where all of this goes. So many good people working to
make our school system better is a good thing. To hear so many thinking out of the box is even better.

Thanks for the time.

We had another good session with Sean, his wife, and already computer savvy daughter! (what else would you expect?)
I'm thinking about a project proposal for the 2.0 class revolving around Earth Day in April.
Give me another day and I'll lay it out!

Sorry that I cannot make it to the Root today to talk shop. I've had a family emergency and have to take care of several unforeseen things. I'll be there next Saturday. Sorry for the late notice.
