Reflections 2011. One of my favorite nights in Lakewood. It was the Observer's great privilege to be involved again. Damn Lakewood schools crank out some talented kids. Thank to Lakewood Schools, The PTA and Judy Szentkiralyi and Carol Hunt for all of their hard work on this.

All photos posted this week. Keep watching!

It was the best Reflections ceremony I've been to yet. A beautiful song, some moving, funny films, insightful photos and drawings from the youngest of kids. The theme was "Together we can..." My favorite part is watching the tiniest kids reach up to shake hands as they move down the long line of Board Members,Council members, mayor, judges, PTA presidents principals, etc. They are all so serious.

I thought it was fabulous! My daughter was a recipient of a certificate and was so overcome to be able to shake the mayor's hand. She also got to met Monique Smith who was very sweet to her. We talked about how Ms. Smith is a city councilperson and I was glad that she had a positive woman to look up to as a role model. Our kids are so talented and it is incredible how many of our Lakewood students go on to the national Reflections level--an win. I think next year will be so incredible because the theme "What is Diversity".
