More Good News For Lakewood

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

In a summer of good news, and after walking out of the County Candidate Forum put on
by the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, I was driving by Lakewood Garden Center, and
saw pumpkins and Paul so I stopped...

One strange pumpkin at Lakewood Garden Center.

So I asked Paul how did the summer work out, how did the how business idea work out?

He smiled, and said OK, they are glad they did it, and they are glad they did it here. We
talked about many things over the next 15 minutes, but all of hem were good, and really
reflected the autumn chill in the air, and watching him talk about things reminded me of
a farmer, a man of the arth talking about fall, harvest, coming spring. It was nice.

So I said, you are sticking around? He nodded.

As I walked over to my car, he said, "I am not eating steak every night, but who is? Yeah
it was worthwhile. Thanks for stopping."

And that is it in a nutshell, Lakewood a great home for dreams to come true. For small
businesses to give it a try and go it the way they see it. The city must help to cultivate more of these dreams over the coming months. We have a unique opportunity, let's
seize it and stop squandering it!

Lakewood Garden - Good time everytime
Lakewood Hardware - A time machine
Lakewood's home owned coffee shops - Beck, Root, bela dubby great experiences
Bakeries - Blackbird, Elmwood, Labella, 5th Avenue,
Restaurants - Melt, Westend, Coffee Pot, 3 Birds, 56 West, Thai Hut, Lake House,
Around the Corner, 2 Dads, India Garden
and on and on and on and on...
and on and on and on

How can you not love this city?

Jim, what's your idea? This Mom always on the look out to do something fun with the kids. I love this time of year.

Not a huge fan of pumpkin pie. More of an apple family.

Anyway got me thinking...

Off to Lakewood Garden Sale for some pumpkins/gourds. They had a really cool crate of all kinds of gourds.

Then off to the metro parks for some fun in the woods. (NOTE: Kids love pumkins and woods.)

Or how about you can walk to the bottom of the Detroit hill into Metroparks, and catch
Steelhead Trout like this!

Ivor stops by to show his catch.

City is pretty damn nice.
