hmmm.. I rarely see 12 year olds with goatees... His green initiatives will create a lot of jobs for this area.. For people who are unemployed right now that is not a Johnny One-Note or a snore..

I believe that some one needs to screen their volunteers just a tad bit better because sometimes you get what you pay for

I guess that you must believe that this area of North Eastern Ohio is moving in the "right direction", with higher unemployment, more poverty and a rapidly deteriorating infrastructure. Maybe you do not comprehend that the glory days of GM, Ford and US Steel are now behind us. Maybe you believe that the demand for the buggy whip will never drop.. If the same behavior gives you the same result then why not stop repeating that same behavior Career politicians who have worked in government for their entire adult life will probably not lead this his area out of its economic slide.. My money is on the person with vision and real world experience. just my $.02 cents for the day. Peace!

You don't have to be an engineer to create green jobs. You have to know how to create training and recruitment and look at your existing resources.

The best initiative I have seen for Green Jobs is a young woman in the Bronx who just wanted a place to walk her dog and found a lakefront access bit of land that was a brown space. She organized and was able to set up one of the best training and reclamation programs in the country for training poor and unemployed workers for green jobs. Guess where there training was held - right there.

Her name is Majora Carter and she is a phenomenal young woman. We could do this here. It makes beautiful sense -

Obviously, and I never stated that you had to be an engineer to create green jobs. I simply said that my money is on the person with vision and the real world experience. Have you ever been to Wisconsin during deer season? Imagine people coming to North East Ohio in droves, to fish, to lodge and to spend money??? New industries?? New jobs??? Is that a bad thing?

If we have the only great lake with clean water and most of the fish, then Lake Erie becomes the focal point of the sport fishing industry. We already have the best Walleye fishing in the country and Lake Erie yellow perch is a $50/plate delicacy in many parts of Europe. Through sport fishing tournaments, the sale of fishing licenses, lodging and the tourism the sport fishing industry attracts, the greater Cleveland area can potentially bring in close to $6 billion a year in revenue. How the filtration system works for the purposes of this site is relatively simple. We use plants to remove the phosphorous from the water before it enters the lake or any large body of water. There are many contaminants that plants will remove from the water to help make it pure, but there are some contaminants like heavy metals that plants do not remove from the water. For those contaminants we use the natural filtering organisms already found in Lake Erie, such as zebra mussels and catfish. A series of ponds with catfish and zebra mussels connected by streams, lined with plants, remove the pollution from the water. After each progressive stage the water gets cleaner and cleaner, and when it reaches Lake Erie the water is clean and healthy.

I didn't say it was a bad thing. He states in his presentation that he is the only who is qualified to do this. I'm saying he's not.

Let me tell you something else, I've worked at putting together training programs. The hardest people to work with were engineers and lawyers. Many engineers had a problem with communicating information in a way that non-engineers would understand.

Lawyers think differently than trades people and trying to get them to see through those eyes is exhausting beyond belief. I'm not saying all of them are like this, but many are.

It's not necessary to be engineer to create green jobs.

Can you imagine an entertainment peninsula that would include boat slips, fishing and water sports along with music and restaraunts, maybe even swimming, right here in Lakewood? I can.
