Directed by John Boorman Rated R

The land needs a king… Arthur will pull his father’s sword from the stone, fight battles, and learn kingly wisdom from Merlin. But can he defend his Queen’s honor? Sir Thomas Malory’s masterpiece is not so much adapted as it is transformed in this lush, green, lyrical film from the mad Boorman. Acclaimed thespian Nicol Williamson is joined by young British actors Liam Neeson, Helen Mirren, Gabriel Byrne and Patrick Stewart in a Dark Age period piece told out of time.

LPL'S WEB SITE FOCUS: Lakewood Picks 2009
Nearly everyone has a favorite movie. Whether it be an Oscar winner, a tear jerker, an action film, an animated classic, a funny blockbuster, a foreign film, or an obscure independent, tastes in films are as diverse as the people who watch them. So, Lakewood Library is asking: What are the best movies of all time? Last year, The Godfather was named Lakewood's favorite film, but only by one vote. This year he might have met his match, but it is up to you to decide his fate. Let your inner movie critic be heard and fill out the brief survey here!

All survey submissions must be received by Saturday, January 23, 2010
