Poll: How Hot is Hot, How Cold is Cold

Post by Mark Crnolatas »

Here is an informal and non-scientific poll. What temperature do you keep your house or apartment at, assuming you can control the temperature?

We don't have air so I don't even want to know how hot it gets in the summer, although ceiling fans and oscillating fans seem to help a bit. In the winter we keep the house quite cold as you can always warm up with long sleeves and layers. We keep the thermometer at 60 during the day and unless the temps are under the lows teens we turn the heat off at night.

I just use some recommended programmable settings I had found online:

Recommended thermostat settings

When you're home: Winter 68° Summer 78°
When you're sleeping or not at home: Winter 55° Summer 85°

We are set all year long at 76 degrees. Winter, Summer Spring, Fall, sleeping or awake.
We have 2 furnaces/thermostats, so one thermostat is set higher during the day (upstairs) while downstairs is set at cooler, then at night it flips.
