Is this needed in Lakewood to get bikers to be more careful?
Hi,
Ok, I don't think bikers in Lakewood are dangerous but I loved this public art and wanted to share it with you. See: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1193610/Dont-look-Cyclists-faced-huge-hole-ground-towpath--luckily-just-pavement-art.html
I put this right up there with camoing the ugly AT&T boxes that Denis Dunn worked so hard to litter our city with. Come out of hiding Mr. Dunn and get some funds from your employer to cover those boxes, Please!.

Oh, way too funny!
I was in London last summer, and the bicyclists there are truly arrogant.
On the other hand we nearly ran down a cyclist in Lakewood who ran a red light because SHE WAS ON HER CELL PHONE! ON HER BIKE. IN TRAFFIC!
So lets get some trompe l'oleil artists working here too!

While there are some irresponsible cyclists in the city, most drivers are exceedingly rude when it comes to bicycles on the street.

If we had one of those gigantic trompe l'oleil holes in the right lane of, say Clifton eastbound, do you think it would have any effect on the people driving cars? Or would it be only the bicyclists that would be able to see them?

Hi,
I'm afraid given recent events with water main breaks and such, a painting on the lane of Clifton would result in many accidents. When your texting, fixing makeup, eating a messy Whopper, changing CDs and smoking a cigarette and driving you can't really deal with 1 unexpected event.
Cars go faster and have more mass. Danger! Will Smith! Danger!

I like the bike craze, and my family loves to bike around town as well, but something has to be done about people learning some real basic bike rules. Two times this week I waited at a red light (once on Clifton/once on Lake), and when the light turned green, families of bike riders--children led by adults--came flying off the curb when their light turned to red. In both instances, these families actually waited for their light to turn red and have the Don't Walk sign go full before crossing the street in the crosswalk. And another time I had a kid yell at me because I had to nerve to yield to him crossing Lake at Lakewood Park when he had the right of way. I'm sure he would have waited for the light to turn red as well had I not ushered him across the street with about 20 seconds left on the walk signal.
