Cleveland Marathon comong through Lakewood

Post by Esther Hazlett »

Everyone, the Cleveland Marathon is this Sunday 5/17, and part of the course will be in Lakewood:

Runners will enter the city at Lake and W.117, go to Cove and head north, then head back east on Edgewater. The city's website states that the lead runner will hit our city by 7:20 a.m.

Even if you can't make it out quite that early (I probably won't), get out there at some point that morning and cheer those runners!

Yes, 7:20 is early to see those first runners go by, but it is so impressive!

I am a volunteer pacer for the marathon and it would be great to have Lakewood well represented cheering on race participants! Even if you can't make it out to see the Elite runners, watch at any time. Everyone participating has worked their tails off, logging miles during an often unpleasant winter training season.

Spectators are great motivators--come and watch Sunday morning!

I'll have to tell ya-----as a back of the pack runner in the old Revco Marathon, it was really a boost to come through Lakewood and get cheered on!
If you know any of the runners, you can really give them a boost at at critical point in the course.

Go Runners!!!!!!!

In case I'm running too fast, and all you see is a blur, that is me out front, breaking pace and loving every minute of it. Autograph session to follow my ticker-tape parade and Letterman appearance. Oprah will just have to wait.
