UPCOMING EVENTS AT LAKEWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY

TUESDAY, JANUARY 20

KNIT & LIT BOOK CLUB

Here’s a new kind of book club for both the knit-a-holic and the incurable bibliophile. Lynda Tuennerman will get us started with the first book selection. After that, meetings will grow organically like a long, long scarf as members make suggestions for books and needlework projects. We’ll keep our hands and minds busy on the third Tuesday of every month, sharing literary insights and personal projects. Visit www.lkwdpl.org/bookclubs to learn more. Tonight's book is Double BIind by Chris Bohjalian.
7:00 p.m. in the Main Library Meeting Room

THURSDAY, JANUARY 22
MEET THE GARDENING AUTHOR

The Dahlia Primer by Eleanor Welling
According to Eleanor Welling, every flower garden should contain at least one dahlia. After sharing a brief history of the flower, the author and expert will guide you in selecting the right dahlia for your garden. Tips on growing and showing dahlias will round out the evening, followed by a drawing for free copies of the book.
7:00 p.m. in the Main Library Auditorium

SATURDAY, JANUARY 24

Family Music & More - Jungle Safari
Have a roaring good time as Katie Bee and Roger Dodger perform puppetry, storytelling, jungle balloon animals, music, magic and much more!
7:00 p.m. in the Main Library Multipurpose Room

SUNDAY, JANUARY 25

Sunday with the Friends-Cello-bration Quartet
The mellow sounds of Cello-bration are just the thing to chase away the winter blues. Comprised of musicians from local community orchestras, this fun-loving quartet will play familiar songs in new arrangements. Are four cellos too many? No, there’s always room for cello.
2:00 p.m. in the Main Library Auditorium

LPL'S WEB SITE FOCUS - Lakewood Christian Service Center

Lakewood Christian Service Center is a collaborative organization of individuals, Lakewood churches, businesses and civic organizations. The organization was begun in 1982 as twelve Lakewood churches combined their resources to provide a Hunger Center for local residents. Soon after its founding the volunteers made a commitment to address the deeper questions of why clients were coming in need of food. Throughout its history the Center has been dedicated to addressing the needs of Lakewood citizens who are jobless, hungry, and/or in crisis. The Center provides job-search assistance; emergency food; advocacy with housing, utilities and public assistance; and information and referral services.
