Eureka! An Ann Coulter column that makes sense

Post by Mark Moran »

This is the column posted Jan 14, in case it changes and you need to find it on the archives.

Ive been birdwatching Ann Coulter for a while. I think she's brilliant
and funny and a great writer, and when she isnt impugning someone's patriotism or loyalty or mental health or masculinity or sexuality, she's persuasive.

Basically I think she's wasting her talent. But I doubt she cares because she makes a lot of money and has a lot of fun pissing a lot of people off.

But here is a column that is filled with--YIKES!--facts, statistics, analysis, nuanced thinking. Of course there is the requisite "librul" bashing and the gratuitious comment about Dennis. But this is an actual PERSUASIVE argument.

I blame Obama. I think an impending era that celebrates level-headed competence, thoughtfulness, moderatation, consideration, empiricism, and pragmatism, is going to make the era of partisan mud-wrestling--the entire Michael Moore-Rush Limbaugh-Al Franken-Michael Savage-vintage Coulter food fight---like as stupid as its always been.

Ann's too smart not to see that the winds are changing. So she's changing tack.

Did you see her on the View? I suggest you may want to see how she stands among real women.

She's a mess and a hypocrite.

I found it on You Tube. And as with the few other times I have watdhed the view, I felt later like I had beaten my head with a giant pair of cymbals

Um Steven she says hateful things, she insults people, she demeans them and she's vile.

It's not quite the same thing as calling people haters for disagreeing with someone. No one called names or insulted anyone on the other thread.

You truly do need to step off with this stuff Stephen, quit acting like you are 10 years old.

Did she ever refer to Bush as G. Walker Bush? Just wondering. :D

I saw her briefly on that other morning show with Kathy Lee and she had such a defensive and nasty/angry demeanor I felt embarrased for her. She was rude to Kathy's co-host (sorry I don't know her name) which, if you have class, you don't do on someone's show. So Rush got filthy rich for being rude and opinionated like that and she is smart enough to do the same. Both without class and both with attacking people. Welcome to America' s dream.

The problem with posting links to blogs that change over periodically is that the column I was referring to -- which was a rake-over of a NYT article "showing" that lots of returning Iraqi vets are involved in violent crime--is no longer up.

The one that's up now as of Jan. 25 is a reversion to form. Its impossible to unpack the illogic and stupidity and childishness of this column comparing the transition from Carter-to-Reagan with Bush-to-Obama.
