"After all manner of professors have done their best for us, the place we are to get knowledge is in books. The true university of these days is a collection of books. " --Albert Camus (1913-1960)

UPCOMING EVENTS AT LAKEWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY

SUNDAY WITH THE FRIENDS:
Afternoon Movie: His Girl Friday (1940)

Directed by Howard Hawks
Here’s your chance to sample one of our Saturday night movies on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Newspaper editor Cary Grant will do anything to keep his ex-wife, ace reporter Rosalind Russell, from remarrying. He loves her almost as much as the newspaper business and thinks nothing of framing her fiancé and freeing death row prisoners to lure her back for one last big story.
2:00 p.m. in the Main Library Auditorium

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8

THE LAKEWOOD PUBLIC CINEMA--The Blues Brothers
The Blues Brothers (1980) Directed by John Landis Rated R

“It’s 106 miles to Chicago. We got a full tank of gas—half a pack of cigarettes. It’s dark. And we’re wearing sunglasses.â€
