I find it so funny that "libertarians" and "independents" on this board, who traditionally "want governement out of domestic issues" isn't up in arms more about the bailout or about the pork Palin has had on her plate for so long!

and I find it disingenuous that people who apparently have no problem with Barack Obama accepting more than $100,000 from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are all of the sudden concerned with $25,000 worth of trinkets given to the Governor of a state that they deem irrelevent.

What in the world does that have to do with anything? Yeah, it takes a lot of money to run for president and candidates hold big ticket events for wealthy contributors. So does McCain.

Palin is a new face, still relatively unknown to most people, about whom we know mostly only what the campaign has told us: that she is a "maverick" a "reformer" and someone doesnt play by business as usual rules.

Not trying to compare anything, just questioning the logic that suggests that people who shell out $2,500 to Obama, naturaly only expect dinner and a show, but that someone who gives a necklace to Palin automatically expects political favor.

I once got a very nice gift from the Ketchikan Fire Department, I shudder to think what political favors were expected of me.

If it makes you feel better some of care far less about that than the bigger issues, all which are relevant, like her three interviews compared to Biden's several hundred. Come on Bret, even a coservtive like yourself has to be embarrassed by her as a possible future president.

Yeah, if only she would have been on tv more, and possibly written a book, then she would be eminently more qualified.

I guess I'm not much of a conservative then, because I'm not "embarrased" by her candidacy for VICE president. That's not an endorsement, just an admission that my personal minimum qualifications for that role are more than fulfilled by her record.

Actually, I think the most questionable Vice Presidential candidate is Wayne Allen Root. Which, in and by itself, might disqualify Bob Barr in my book.

If she had written a book, specifically on issues facing the country and ways to face them, we'd have a pretty good basis for judging whether or not she was capable of the job. As Obama has, it's pretty easy to get a feel for the way he thinks about issues and come to your own conclusions about whether or not you trust his judgement and principles. If you disagree with him, it's not because you weren't given an opportunity to examine his views.

Writing the book isn't a qualification per se. Being a Governor isn't a qualification per se. It's the content that matters.

OMG we are talking about interviews so we know where she stands on things!!!!!!! God can you spin things! She is a moron even by tv interviewers' standards who have to ask the same question twice!!!! "Well there honey have to get back to you". Geez almighty God. Vice President who could run this country if Mcain fell over! My god we used be a Superpower. Think how the other countries would love her to run this country! We would be the laughing stock!
