McCain never showed up at Capitol Hill today

Post by Jeff Dreger »

so is this a crisis that requires his leadership or not?

McCain never showed up at Capitol Hill for bailout negotiations today.

After declaring he’d return to Washington to help with the bailout negotiations immediately after last night’s debate, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) never went to Capitol Hill today. In fact, McCain stayed largely holed up in his Arlington apartment, leaving only to go to his campaign headquarters just around the block, the New York Times reports:

Asked why Mr. McCain did not go to Capitol Hill after coming back to Washington to help with negotiations, [McCain adviser] Mr. Salter replied that “he can effectively do what he needs to do by phone.’’

If he can do his job by phone then why all the posturing about needing to suspend his campaign to go back to Washington? If during his campaign he is going to outright lie I wonder what he will lie about if elected.

If Palin is a foreign policy expert because she can see Russia from Alaska, maybe McCain is an economic expert because he can see the Capitol from his condo.

However the facts will show he never flew into Washington for anything but smoke and mirrors. Made a brief appearance at the Bailout meeting then went off to practice for the debate he said he was not sure about going to.

Are we not tired of these Karl Rove antics.

Do we need any more proof that it is not change but more of the same.

It is embarrassing.

This "suspended campaign" wasn't about the campaign at all, it was a test bubble for a suspended election to gauge the reaction of the people. Just as the Muir building and the 1st WTC bombing were test for WTC II. They are fine tuning their strategy and models. The sheep deserve what they get.

McCain's campaign advisers were lobbyists or insiders at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae for years. They fought against regulation and walked away with big money.
