The Department of Health and Human Services released a proposal that allows any federal grant recipient to obstruct a woman's access to contraception. In order to do this, the Department is attempting to redefine many forms of contraception, the birth control 40% of Americans use, as abortion.

Just keep thinking positive thoughts...only a few more months of this kind of thing. I have no doubt that if Obama wins, this is not the kind of thing the HHS under his watch will endorse.
Isn't this already the case with pharmacists who are already able to choose what drugs they will or will not fill based on their beliefs? I thought there were a bunch of pharmacists who refused to fill prescriptions for the "morning after" pills along with a few that don't do the normal daily birth control pills because even those can be used to create a "morning after" effect. Maybe I am not remembering this correctly, though.
I can't wait until science is relevant again in Washington.

planned ignorance
The authoritarian Romanian government of Nicolae Ceau had outlawed abortion and heavily taxed adults over 25 who did not have children. There are rumors he also had women medically monitored to make sure they weren't wasting eggs. It was part of his drive to increase the population of Romania.

China only had about 400 million people 60 years ago. There was a great drive to rapidly increase the population for some reason. It will probably turn out un-well.
In America there is a semi-racist conservative movement to drastically increase the white population for fear of the non-white population increasing much more faster. Most aspects of this movement do not include realistic steps to make it easier or better for raising kids.
