Fire Pit?

Post by Jim DeVito »

As a new homeowner, and looking forward to summer nights, one of the first projects (of many) I undertake is to build a fire pit. I am envisioning a 8 inch deep "hole" about 4 foot in diameter. With nice brick work rising about 1 foot off the grass line. Does anybody know if this is cool in Lakewood? I pretty much need to reassure my wife that the Fire Co. will not come busting in hoses a blazing. Of course I will consult with the neighbors to get there thought but I think it will fly with them. (if you are my neighbors you are more than welcome to join me for some beers around the fire) Does anybody else have a similar fire pit?

Thanks!!

Jim--Send a message to Ed Fitzgerald of the building department to make sure he sees your post. He should be able to provide any requirements that the city would have. (Thank goodness you're close to the Fire Station :? )

Interesting note. Living as close to the Fire Dept. as I do has saved me $100.00 off my homeowners insurance premium. :D

In case any body was still interested.

I will outline the bullet points.

3 foot or less in diameter and 2 foot or less in height. And 25 foot from all buldings.

I think I can swing that!! :-)
