Who do you want as the Republican Candidate for President?

Post by Lynn Farris »

Okay, maybe someone else should sum this up. I am not as excited by the Republican Candidates for President as I am for the Democratic Candidates. All of the Republican candidates with the exception of Dr. Paul are very hawkish on the war.

Huckabee - Pastor, former Governor of Arkansas. His good communication skills and Christian message sent him skyrocketing to the front of the pack in Iowa in early Dec. He seems to be losing momentum.

Romney - Businessman - Governor of Mass. Is willing to spend his own money. Has been known to flip flop. He is Mormon - will this cause a problem?

Paul - Dr. Congressman - Libertarian views, Constitutionalists wants us out of the war. Lots of rapid supporters. Has been able to raise large amounts of money. Will this non traditional support translate to votes? May be popular with the Live Free or Die state of NH.

McCain - War hero, Senator from Az. Pushed for the surge. He is peaking at the right time in NH. Will he be able to once again regain his leader status of a few years ago?

Guiliani - Former mayor of NYC. Businessman. Has decided to skip the Iowa, New Hampshire and S.C. primaries - may be a big mistake. Lots of negatives are bringing this once shooting star down.

Thompson - I don't think he is any longer a viable candidate.

Hunter - Like Thompson, I don't think he is any longer a viable candidate.

I predict that after SC, Romney, McCain, Paul and maybe Huckabee will be the only viable candidates. Guiliani will stick around for Feb. 5, but after not participating in the previous primaries, he will not win.

I hope Paul will win - but I think it will be Romney.
