Lakewood Observer sponsors SWAT's 5K Run Sunday!

After every thing the Westshore SWAT Team did for Lakewood last year, some of us at the Lakewood Observer thought it would be a nice gesture to help underwrite this Sunday's 5K run. Proceeds will go to C.O.P.S. or Concerns of Police Survivors.

Sunday May 20th, 2007 is the WEB S.W.A.T. 5 kilometer race. This race is sponsored by the Ohio Tactical Officers Association and the Westshore Enforcement Bureau S.W.A.T. team. It is being held during a four day conference of Ohio law enforcement officers and also coincides with the end of National Police Week. The run will benefit the Ohio Chapter of the national organization, C.O.P.S. or Concerns of Police Survivors. The 5K race will initiate from the Westlake Holiday Inn located at the Crocker Road exit on I-90. This run is open to the public and will have trophies for the top three male and female finishers in each age group. A separate Law Enforcement category will have a prize for the top Law Officer finisher and the top two-member Law Officer Team finishers. The Law Officer race category will be both age and gender indifferent. The race will begin at 9:00 AM with registration opening at 8:00 AM. Race day registration will be at the front of the Holiday Inn. The law enforcement officers of the Westshore cities of Bay Village, Fairview Park, Lakewood, North Olmsted, Rocky River and Westlake have great respect for the cities that they serve and protect, and hope that you will join them for this charity run.
