A'venue Pastry

Post by c. dawson »

Not to do a blatant plug ... okay, maybe it is blatant ... but my wife periodically buys cakes for birthday parties in the lab she works for. So we've been buying them at all the local bakeries, and all have been very good. But on a lark, she tried A'Venue Pastry, on Detroit in the west end, and holy cow, those cakes are GOOD. I mean, we're talking decadent good. Evil good. So good it's probably taking a year off your life with every single bite!!! She's since bought several more, and her coworkers are raving about how good the cakes are, too.

So if you're in the market for an amazing cake, definitely give them a try. I chatted with the owner one time when we went in to sample their pastries, and she's really really nice, ultra-friendly, and very cool.

By the way, the folks touting La Pita Express are also right ... we just tried it last night, and the Chicken Shwarma sandwich was killer ... good hummos, too!

A'venue, damn good.

When I used to deliver the Observer to businesses, many businesses would kick you a "cold drink" Mr. Hero, Chocolate Oreo at Sweet Designs, but my favorite was A'venue Pastry. She would always give me a help your self to the cookies. Boy were they good.

We now have a delivery person doing business, and he always comments, on A'venue Pastry cookies, make me want to start delivering again.

While it might take time of your life, I have to think it ads for the happiness and smiles it brings.

Good call.
