Is there a Physicist in the house?
I'm a little weak in my electro-magnetic generator knowledge, but I had a couple of random thoughts regarding a possible alternative generator configuration.
If there is anyone in "the O Deck" that has a background in this area, could you please shoot me an e-mail.
I'm all for alternative power sources, but I wonder if our focus in in the wrong direction.

The costs, feasibility, physics, and logistics of the project do not matter. Neither do the feelings of the mutilated wildlife that will be decapitated by the turbines.
All that matters is that we build the windmills so that everyone gets a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Plus, certain backs will get scratched and certain well-connected private individuals will benefit--that way, we will kill two birds with one stone
To quote another forum member, "whose needs are being met?"
