Look! Up in the Sky!

Post by dl meckes »

It must be nearing Labor Day because I saw some some beauty jets flying a pattern in the sky while we were doing some yard work.

Lakewood get's a pretty good view of some of the Air Show, but I'm happy I don't live quite as close to the lake shore as I used to, because using the phone during Air Show hours was often a challenge!

I'm hearing some mighty powerful jet engines as the planes arrive at Burke.

I love/hate the trees in Lakewood. They're great, but I couldn't see a thing until I walked down the street onto madison.

this little guy was crossing the street, he even looked both ways.

then the jets flew by again and he decided to get a view of the show:

I was in the Air Force..and have seen literally thousands of jets from all branches .....and yet I STILL feel like a lil kid when I see them doing their "routines"...
Hope someone with a great camera gets some great shots of the show this year...

Maybe a special few pages just for those??

I was visiting the Winton on the lake and while there the Blue Angels (no offense Mark, but my family is old school Navy so they are our faves! :D) were doing their stuff. I swear they were using the Gold Coast as their turning point for their routine. While on the ground I could read the numbers off of the wings and when I was in a friend's apartment on the 23rd floor I swear I could reach out and shake the pilot's hand. They were going that slow doing one of those "How in God's Name is that thing still in the air" sorts of turns. Amazing. Loud as all get out but a joy to watch.
