Cross our fingers, so far this summer in Lakewood has been spectacular. Sure we have had a couple storms, and smoke from Canada, but we have escaped the 100 degree weather and droughts of the Southwest.

A quick reminder that you can still nominate a tree in your yard, on your street, or city for the Second Annual Lakewood Tree Advisory Board/LO Tree Contest. Anyone who enters a tree can win. We have prizes to award to lucky tree owners, and lucky tree spotters. So take a break, walk around the city and help us find those special trees.

Also this weekend is the Lakewood Arts Festival. started decades ago by Lucy Sinagra, it continues to this day to be one of the best art festivals in Northern Ohio. The list of artists is so large and so encompassing we have assembled the best list of artists and gallery spots on the internet. Go to lakewoodobserver.com, click on the story and see the list.

This morning we were called after we went to press for an update on a page 1 story. It seems Amy Wooley will not be appearing with the LHS 50th Reunion Band.

We also highlight more of our students that stood out this past year. If you know a student or teacher that deserves a shout out, please contact the Lakewood Observer at “production@lakewoodobserver.com” and we shall see how we can get them in the paper.

We are also looking for great Summer Vacation Stories for upcoming papers.

We encourage you to pick up a printed paper at over 100 locations around town. Apartment residents look in your mailrooms. Most large apartments have asked for delivery to their mail rooms and we are always happy to oblige. Also most convenience stores, supermarkets, and government offices. We appreciate the support.

Lakewood, as always, please take the time and make the effort to share your stories of life in Lakewood with us. Everyone has a story worth sharing. We are also looking for photos of Lakewood from before 1960 to build up our ever growing massive collection of photos in and around Lakewood. If you have not checked out our photo galleries please do, everything from Taylor Swift to block parties. All free, and you do not have to register.

Peace/love and have a safe pleasant summer.
