Robbery! Like Poetry In Motion -- Great Work Lakewood Police

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Around 2pm Lakewood Police Dispatch got a call from a woman in the backroom of Subway on Detroit Avenue. She was overhearing a robbery of the store.

The man wearing a mask, told the cashier to give him all the money, then grabbed the tip jar, and ran out the back door.

Instantly the police had 4 cars coming to the scene, and other cars blocking off the area. As police dispatch gave descriptions police started to come into the area. The man had gone into another store where a shopper had seen him take off his mask, placing it into a bag of that appeared to be money. She called police dispatch who were able to quickly locate the man who had left the store walking east down Detroit Avenue.

He was caught at the corner of Detroit and Warren. Less than 20 minutes after the robbery he was booked.

Police located a plastic bag with a mask and a grey sweatshirt he had worn in the robbery.

Twenty minutes after booking, Lakewood Police called for a medic, as the man just booked for robbery had stomach cramps.

Good work Lakewood Police and residents.
