Lakewood Loses Another Good One - Madeline Cain

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

I just received a phone call that former Mayor Madeline Cain has passed away, here in Lakewood.

Madeline was the first female elected Mayor of Lakewood,

She will best be known for many things, and all of them seem to swirl around really bad communication with residents and the media.

Calling 85% of Lakewood blighted on 60 Minutes was merely a high point. When she thought taking on Mike Wallace to be good for her career.

I butted heads with Madeline many times.

Later in our lives we became friends and had many great conversation over Lakewood, politics, projects and more.

She was a great source for info on the early hospital deals, when the FitzGerald/Summers regime sold the city down the river.

At the same time it became difficult for her as dementia set in. She has been in assisted living for years and was eventually moved into Ennis Court where she died.

God speed Madeline, I know in your heart you were doing it for all of us.

peace/love
