This Election And The Next One

As Lakewood continues to find its center, and itself once again we as residents should be cognizant of one simple fact from the past and now the future.

Elections in Lakewood are not about ideas, I have heard very few ideas out of the candidates. All I have seen or heard are simple buzz words made to trip a response. Safety, Action, Services etc. All simply muttered hoping you pick up on it. My old buddy Ken Warren would point to Spiral Dynamics, which is simply to target and individual(s) based on their inner self. People that believe in laws and conformity react to "security, police." Those that tend to be greener and progressive react to "recycling, services." And on and on.

The election is not about black or white, rich or poor, Protestant and Muslim.

It is about 1 thing - Honesty in government.

We have candidates and backers of candidates that have ZERO issue lying to residents. Lying straight to our faces. Even when confronted by the truth, facts and documents.

We have backers of some of the candidates that are 100% transactional like Trump. "I will back you, but what are you doing for me?" These are easy to spot simply look at a donation list. We will publish them all before the election. Some of the names read like the whose who of Lakewood broken system. You will see the very names of the people that cheered Lakewood Mayor on for lying to the residents. Telling us to put on our Big Boy pants and move on. You have names appearing that headed up many of the side groups put together to lie to the voters and obscure the truth. You literally have one councilman running that was a deep part of the cover up. Then you also have the FB groups and "lying influencers" that not only failed in their duties but also helped to lie to you the voter. And then the fictitious names of the people refusing to stand behind their words but merely throw shit like a caged monkey.

This election and the next one should still be about cleaning up the mess, no one has bothered to do.

Before the push to the bar economy, Lakewood prided itself on critical thought and education.

Let's go back there together.
