Good Work COVID Only Up 1,200% In County

It has been reported that over 1,000 CCF employees are on sick leave or in quarantine.

Lakewood's numbers through the roof. I have many friends with it, that were careful, but obviously not careful enough.

It is simple, if you share air with people you do not know, or with people you know that share air with others, you have a greater than 1 in 100 chance of getting COVID. Which means for up to two weeks you can spread COVID without every feeling sick.

Lakewood jumps to over 1,000, the country and state are breaking numbers everyday.

Virus is totally out of control.

This holiday week/month, lets give everyone the gift of normalcy in 2021, wear a mask, skip group events, be safe.

After being as careful as possible since March, both Bill and I tested COVID+. I'm getting the Trump treatment at Fairview. Bill is being treated at home. We probably became infected around Veterans Day, just as we even quit going to the grocery store.

I cannot believe how casual so many people are about this Pandemic? To think people are so lost, so self centered that the only thing that matters is themselves.

I understand, I guess, people that need groups to male money lobbying for opening. But let's call a spade a spade not just a shovel. They are doing it for the $$$$$.
Not my favorite motivation for killing people but, it makes more sense than "It infringes on my rights."

Yesterday I bought some large items at Home Depot, sorry Lakewood Hardware you don't have dishwashers. The person assisting us had just gotten back to work after battling COVID for a month. He was considering quitting because "people are just rude and mean about masks." He went on to explain what he went through, and how they have FREE masks all throughout the store and at the door. When he reminds them or ask them to wear a mask, they go off on him about freedoms.

Here we are see a massive argument about getting back to normal. Why do they not understand one simple fact, until COVID is nearly gone, there is no normal. The ONLY way to kill off COVID is to stop transmission. Vaccines, masks, social distancing, washing hands and skipping gatherings of any size, is the only way. Any leak in this, means it continues. That bar at the end of the street that ignores it. All they do is add days of misery for all. Large groups outside, might as well as add ten more days of misery.

It blows my mind that people can't behave for the community for 14 days.

Even if you take every precaution you can still get COVID.

If I had the level of infection that I have been dealing with back in March, I would have died, and Bill also would most likely be dead. We have some treatments now that can save SOME lives. Our COVID journey is not over. My COVID gave me a pulmonary embolism that could have killed me if I didn't wake my partner up and make him take me to the hospital at 3AM in the blizzard, where he had to stop the car and just let me out at the door of the Fairview ER. I'm in isolation, not ICU, thank goodness. But that wasn't the only COVID gift.

The virus is still quite unknown. Our leaders have let us down. We have got to work together to save our country. It sounds corny, but it's true. We'll soon see 9/11 deaths every day. How will essential supplies be delivered? 277k + dead this year. Some people have no symptoms but they have the virus and they don't know it. And some people have been killed by COVID.

We still don't know what residual damage there may be for us. We're not just able to resume life.

A former Observer photographer's dad has had to go to a nursing care facility. He is beginning to recover after months of fighting COVID for his life.

The Mission of the Lakewood Observer is to attract, articulate, and amplify civic intelligence and community good will in the city of Lakewood and beyond. Our goal is to help Lakewood residents and neighbors learn as much as possible about the city. There were a few good neighbors involved in that.

dl &Bill, I am stunned upon reading your post.

You've been on my mind these last couple of days, and now, I see why.

We've had many discussions about our mutual compromised pulmonary systems, and to learn of you and Bill being infected strikes me in my core.
