Memorial Drive By For Lakewoodite & CFD Lt. Richard Petrus

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

"We are meeting up at the Firefighter Memorial, another Firefighter has died." The words always make me pause, and think, and thank all first responders.

This time it was for 51-year-old Lakewoodite and Cleveland Fire Department Lt. Richard Petrus.

Richard was feeling a little tired on August 7, next morning he had a temperature of 103. Was tested for Corona virus, and the test came back positive.

Image
He stayed at home where he was improving, suddenly he had trouble breathing and they called for an ambulance. By the time he was admitted he was in critical condition.

Less than a week after testing positive this 51-year-old father to twin girls, was dead.

A candle lit for Lt. Richard Petrus, who leaves behind daughters Ashley and Amber, and wife Jill.

Thank you for your years of service.

God Speed.
