Lakewood School District to Receive $211,033 in COVID-19 Funding

Post by Bill Grulich »

The State of Ohio State Controlling Board approved $211,033 for Lakewood City Schools. These funds are in addition to the $440 million already approved to be distributed to schools statewide from the CARES Act’s Elementary and Secondary School Education Relief fund.

The Federal CARES Act funding for Ohio’s schools is being distributed based on enrollment, with additional funding to support students with disabilities and economically disadvantaged students, as well as transportation obligations. The funds can be used for protective equipment, cleaning, remote learning and other needs as schools respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

These resources hardly make up for the loss of district funding because of cutbacks by the State of Ohio, due to the high level of unemployment. Click here to view a district-by-district stimulation of the distribution of funds.
