Brad Presutto shows up

Post by Dan Alaimo »

We've seen much of mailers of various candidates with suspicious and exaggerated claims. It seems to me that the more mailers and the more yard signs, the less credible the candidate. In Ward 2, we recently got a mailer from council candidate Brad Presutto that was quite different, at least in my eyes.

What he says is similar to the others, but after getting to know Brad over the past few months, I was impressed with it because it was entirely true, and not exaggerated. I'll attach two files of the front and back of the mailer, so I won't need to repeat many of the specific things he says.

Brad is responsive. As a number of people are quoted as saying, a big part of life is just showing up, and Brad shows up. He's been there and will be there for his constituents in Ward 2 if elected. Brad has already accomplished more for Lakewood residents than many council members do in their entire tenures. He has helped sick and elderly neighbors, got a trash can replaced at Warren and Clifton, got pedestrian crossing signals fixed at Warren and Clifton, and held park clean ups at City Center and Kauffman parks. I asked him about replacing the long-removed trash can at French and Clifton, and he got right on it. There's been much more. He stands up for what he believes is right, and is one of the most transparent people I know. This is small stuff, but it's the stuff of day-to-day council rep responsibilities.

Brad is trustworthy, qualified and experienced. He will be an independent voice for Lakewood. and he's got a vision for the future of Lakwood, which we have been sorely lacking. Brad's opponent, Jason Shachner seems to be a good, honest candidate as well, but I have yet to be able to meet with him personally and review particulars. He's been busy, but that lack of available time may speak to how he will do as a council representative, a demanding job.

When it comes to local politics - Brad self identifies as a Progressive Democrat - but never mind the labels. We need to vote for people who are going to be in our corner, not that of the old-guard power brokers.

Dan-- I totally agree that Brad is a great candidate. I have his sign in my yard even though my Ward 1 candidate is Laura. Having said that, now don't let's us give these candidates "too much hype". Stan
(By the way, vote for Jeff Wise in Ward 3) Stan

A very important addendum (that's lawyer language) I have a Meghan George for Mayor sign, also.

There's a lot on the line.
BTW, what I wrote was s sincere commentary unrelated to the campaign. No diss on Jason, but I think Brad is s superior candidate.

Dan-- that is one of the unique characteristics of Lakewood--- all of our candidates are extremely qualified-- we just vote on the differences. Stan

Stan,
Now you sound like the neutral LO person some people want. But i know you're not either.

We have a stake in these ward races.
