Coming and going on Detroit

Post by Dan Alaimo »

This marks the last week in business for the Sweet Spot (17806 Detroit), the best gelato in Lakewood, probably in the region and who know how much farther than that. Lots of variety and oh, that Jack's Bourbon Butterscotch. The environment is bright with much local art hanging on the walls. They are closing because the owner Celeste Blau really does want to spend more time with her family - she has two young children. This is one local business I will truly miss.

Meanwhile at 15211 Detroit at Andrews/Elmwood, Jana's Mediterranean Deli has opened. While Sweet Spot's gelato flavors will be missed, Jana's brings a unique selection of hummus, including chocolate. So far I've tried the chicken schwarma and the gyro in a salad and both were wonderful. I look forward to many more tasty meals from Jana's.

Jana's is phenomenal. Definitely fits a niche that was missing in Lakewood.
