Shaping Up To Be A Wild Ride This Fall

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Talking with various people and groups across the city it is amazing how ill informed many of Lakewood's voters are on the affairs fo Lakewood. Much to City Hall's credit they are really good at muddying the waters and creating smoke screens and fully staged charades. Witness the many of them going on around you right now. Surveys, public input sessions and those all so darling coffee clatches are starting up to persuade you into believing something other than the truth.

This is an election for one basic thing. Does City Hall serve the residents or do they favor the developers. This administration and the last sold the heart of the city out to developers for literally pennies on the dollar. McKinley traded to the city for $100 who off loaded it to their old building department head. $248 million hospital and grounds, given to an ex Mayor for $1.00. The Board of education building swept up in the massive need to giveaway everything and develop everything. All done with one simple thought in mind, "It is ours and we deserve the right to do it, hell with the future, the future is us. "Us" a bunch of 60 and 70 year-olds that were given everything in life, and care not at all for 80% of Lakewood south of Clifton.

We have watched Summers and his supporters and "owned" council members do anything and everything to keep in office. Lie, misrepresent, break sunshine laws, break with ethics, even publishing their own lies through various other sources. We have seen nothing yet. They didn't waste $300,00 of the public's money fighting to keep documents hidden for nothing.

This will be a wild ride!

Team Summers is mired in a long losing streak at the Ballot Box.
In 2017 Marx and Nowlin became the first incumbent council members to lose in 24 years.
In 2018 Sweeney and Bullock were humiliated by Antonio and Skindell.....despite the heavy backing of the county party.

No doubt that The Summers Gang will go to great lengths to "stop the bleeding" in 2019.

Yes, I suspect the “usual suspects” will all be involved - behind the scenes, of course. They are the reason Cuyahoga County is considered one of the most, if not THE most corrupt county in the USA.

There is a fascinating churn just out of sight that is pretty amazing. A small handful of candidates stockpiling money, much of it from out of the city. What will they do in the closing months? We know they are capable of anything, and they are desperate to continue the cover up and the illusions.

It will be a lot easier for them to continue with the cover up and the illusions if the reform candidates run a issue free campaigns or if the reform candidates ignore all else and concentrate on City Solutions For The Global Warming Crisis!

Bill has a good point here.

People have not forgotten how a city asset became money for private foundations. They might not know, however, all the players and who all was involved behind the scenes.

It’s very important that the public knows who is backing the various candidates. If you want to root out the corruption, you’ve got to identify and expose these stealth candidates, the handpicked successors.

O’Leary made that easier in Ward 2 by campaigning with Schachner. Now that we know Fitzgerald is behind the Neff campaign, we see who they want in Ward 1

The biggest obstacle for the reform candidates is the power of the local media to control the narrative. The Plain Dealer and other outlets will sensor the news and present one sided viewpoints and analysis. Why? It's all about regionalization. Sam O'Leary and his group fully supported the regionalization of Lakewood Hospital and will fully support the regionalization plans cooked up by self appointed "community leaders". The reform candidates may not on board.

Sam O'Leary and his supporters will spend more than $100,000 to keep control. If they lose that control the truth gets out, if the truth gets our it all of their plans unravel.

Luckily, the reform candidates are all credible candidates with the experience and qualifications necessary to run the City. Will they make the case?
