"Best known Proto-Punk Cleveland band" Rocket from the Tombs...
With Peter Laughner (lp box set just released), David Thomas aka Crocus Behemoth, Pere Ubu, Scene Magazine, Charlie Wiener (still performing solo) and Glen “Thunderhand” Hach. Drummer Tom “Foolery” Clements and later on teenage guitar wizard Chris Cuda.
Later on the band was joined by Craig Bell, LHS Class 70, with too many bands to list including Mirrors, Bell System, Rocket from the Tombs, Dead Boys, and 5 or ten other bands currently touring! Eugene “Cheetah Chrome” O’Connor (Dead Boys), Johnny “Madman” Madansky(Dead Boys).
At one point, most if the Dead Boys lived on Giel, and worked above Burrows, which was Burger King, err Starbucks is.
OK when does the Lakewood Band Mirrors get in? They were part of this scene too, and some even more talented than those getting mentioned!
At some point, Lakewood should capitalize on this, not many cities can claim fame to starting a genre of music or art.
