OK Your Turn, What Restaurant Do You Want In This Space?

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

This morning I had the pleasure of speaking with the largest land owner in Lakewood. He was introducing me to the largest land owner in Cleveland. We talked about various properties and things going on. How bad the Lakewood Hospital deal was for the residents, and then...

"Jim what sort of restaurant do we want here? We have Cleveland Vegan one store west, and Proppa Pig two doors east, what do you think?"

We knowing the parking issues in the area, I couldn't come up with one, but they have a couple interested.

So if you get an idea, tape it to their door. Who knows what restaurant Lakewood gets next? I bet these two do.

For the record, when they brought up how bad the hospital debacle has gone I asked them...

"Would you have bought the property for $1?" (The price this mayor sold it to ex-Mayor Fitzgerald for. Of course Ed started the closing, and then appointed the current Mayor to the LHA Board, then the Mayor;'s office. Probably just a coincidence  )

Both laughed. Both have the money to by the land for actual value, which they gladly would have done.

Except for the river.

Here is what, IMHO, we are actually missing in Lakewood:

1) Authentic Chinese restaurant. Something along the lines of what is in AsiaTown. We have lots of Chinese restaurants, some quite tasty, but not a really good, authentic Chinese restaurant.

2) Ethiopian. Surprised there aren't more in the Cleveland area but definitely none in Lakewood right now.

3) English Pub. Yeah, I know many think we have too many bars already but none of the ones we have are themed like an English pub. Sullivans was close to being one, but closed a long time ago.

4) German/Austrian. Have to go outside Lakewood to get this type of food at a restaurant. Would be fun to have a mini-Hofbrauhaus or something like it in town.

5) Italian. Very few actual Italian restaurants in town and the ones we do have are a bit small (again, IMHO). A Little Italy type restaurant in town would be pretty fun. Eddie C's used to be great but, again, they closed a while ago.
