Porch Fire - Good Work LFD

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Shortly after noon today, Lakewood Fire Department got a call from a person experiencing a porch fire. A small fire quickly escalated in the steady breeze, and soon the house itself was on fire with the fire quickly climbing to the second floor.

Lakewood Fire Department was quick to answer and get the fire out.

What seems to have happened is someone place a cigarette into a flower box with starter flowers. The filler in the block caught on fire, and as I mentioned in the steady wind a small mistake turns into a pretty big deal.

The firefighters that fought the blaze take a break, while others go through the house with thermo-imagining devices making sure the fire did not spread.

Quickly finished, the house is secured, the power cut, Firefighters get cleaned up and pack up.

Good work Lakewood Fire and Police.

People, smokers, be careful.
