The City Took A Total Bath On The Deal

Post by Mark Kindt »

Now We Have Proof From The City That It Took A Total Bath On The Hospital Deal

If you study this spreadsheet, particularly the cells highlighted in yellow, we can discover the following take-away:

After liquidating the financial and physical assets of Lakewood Hospital, selling the building at 850 Columbia Road, and selling the medical office building/parking garage, we can conclude that the City of Lakewood received no more than what it would have normally received had the Hospital lease continued for its full-term from 2015 to 2026 (11 years). And, this fact is actually described in the text of the spreadsheet.

A strong argument can be made that the liquidation of these municipally-owned assets generated no revenue to the City of Lakewood greater than what it was entitled to under its existing contractual rights with the Lakewood Hospital Association.

No wonder that the consultant at Subsidium advised LHA that the proposal had no material advantage for the community. Because it didn't.

All the value of the liquidation of the municipally-owned assets went to other parties.
