It Is Easy To Forget...

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

... that back when Mayor Edward FitzGerald and soon to be Mayor then Councilman Summers came up with the idea to liquidate the hospital and the land for the Foundation money...

1) Mayor FitzGerald was being fast tracked to the Governorship, though without any promises.

2) The original plan as uncovered by us and at the time Lakewood BOE member Matthew Markling was for a Rec Center, dubbed Michael P. Summers Rec Center and Natatorium,

3) Councilman Summers was being groomed to be Mayor, as Nate Kelley stated to me, "Mike Summers is busy with some very important projects."

4) The founding members of LakewoodAlive were planning their exit to manage and receive all of the control and benefits of land and Foundation money.

5) This was the biggest "deal" every done in Lakewood, and would change Lakewood, DowntowN, and our lifestyles forever.

6) That Mike Summers, Tom Bullock and Mary Louise Madigan would hurry the closing of the hospital behind the scenes at Lakewood Hospital Foundation.

7) That this entire deal, to change Lakewood forever and benefit a small handful of friends, would be done in secret. No matter what laws it broke.

Then on that fateful night in August back in 2014 the wheels came off the FitzGerald Wagon, and it all started to head directly into the gutter and spiral out of control.

Our elected officials, instead of coming clean and working to stop the deal which had not been put forward in any final way decided against all better judgement and sanity to push ahead and run our largest employer, largest tax base, largest anchor out of town. Paying them $78 million dollars in public money, giving them land, and paying for a new smaller health clinic. They continued down the pathway for a Rec Center the community could no longer afford, while making fun of, marginalizing and even attacking those that brought their secret plans to light. They lied, they worked to cover-up, they misrepresented every and all facts that would counter their plans, even hiring people at city hall to work on elections and intimidate residents. They formed groups and reformed groups of the same people to strong arm and lie to the public. They also produced a paper to push improper numbers, bad facts, and illusions to confuse voters right before an election.

From the moment the entire secret plan came to light here in the Observer back in December 2014, and they realized there was nowhere near the money coming to them they dreamed, they have desperately looked for ideas, any ideas to fill in the massive hole in Lakewood's economy they alone created. Realizing they had truly screwed-the-pooch, they started searching for any idea from any source that could help them fix what they had truly broken and destroyed, the heartbeat of this community.

And they now continue to fight public record requests in court, on records, files, computer usage, election law violations that have been ordered to be produced numerous times by the courts.

And now, we stand on the verge of the entire nightmare unraveling in front of our very eyes, as they continue their lies and delusional bullshit.

PRODUCE THE RECORDS NOW! Time to finally understand just how fucked up this entire nightmare is.

Will the new members of Council support the release of public documents relating to the destruction of a public asset?

Adding to the list...

That the Cleveland Clinic would have preferred to release the information in the winter of 2014, if not the fall of 2014. However the Mayor strictly for political reasons wanted it to be kept quiet until June 16th, which would have been after the deadline for people to register as candidates and run against him and council members.

As they would have had the leaving of the hospital as a reason.

RELEASE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS NOW!

The Plain Dealer has printed a lot of articles about local governments violations of open records laws. They have printed nothing about Lakewood. The reporters never responded to my questions about reporting on Lakewood. On two occasions my on line comments and the responses were deleted.

Councilman Tom Bullock has been a key player in the game of Hide The Document. Will the PD endorse him?

It is important to a lot of people that the documents be kept secret. Why?

What is even more amazing about the Lakewood Black-Out on real news, is that the three people, businesses mentioned in the Crain's article are the three pronciple players in the Lakewood Hospital nightmare. Ed FitzGerald, Mayor Summers, and Team Neo (Jay Foran).
