Stan, that is a $2 million dollar car not counting engine, that will use more than $100,000 in tires during the race. Which should see it go over 2,500 miles at an average speed of 110 miles per hour. Some parts of the track are as slow as 60 mph, but others over 212 mph.

There are some amazing stories coming out of this including a couple teams with deep Lakewood connections.

All you need to finish it off is a push button AM radio that is set on WIXY 1260 (maybe some Rolling Rock in a cooler cruising by the Tyler Barn)

GO FERNANDO ALONSO!
Cadillac errrrr Corvette, errrrr GM engine at least.

I find it hard to poo poo Taylor brothers just because they got connected. They still win.

And did you know Fernando Alonso has a Lakewood connection?

NASCAR slight yawn, more show then go. BUT their tires degradation and gas burn off is so quick every lap is different and the cars become a handful.

40 K for a steering wheel? I remember the $10.18 Chevy option for a deluxe horn trim ring

And then a bit more $ to lace it in color-coordinated leatherette.

I recall flying to Daytona for the race in 1999. The track is next door to the airport which is next door to the local U-Haul rental center.

A crafty racing buddy from work rented a nice big van for 19 bucks a day and a mountain of appliance pads to sleep on and under. The mileage

charge was next to nothing over 3 days and the air conditioning was appreciated !

Great idea for this race! Trucks rule.

The grandstands are pretty empty so moving around and getting good viewing is pretty easy.

No. I don't recall ever hearing something like that. What is it? The McLaren Red?
