Euclid, North Randall, Mayfield, North Olmsted, and Cleveland are all landing or retaining companies that will create thousands of new jobs and millions in payroll.
It's rather a stark contrast to Lakewood, where our jobs and economy are LEAVING.
Where is the effort to secure these types of revenue? The state of Ohio is subsidizing some of these activities with tax credits. Who is working to get Lakewood a piece of that pie?

With some fairness, North Randall, Euclid, and Cleveland have a ton of space available. I drove through North Randall, and Warrensville yesterday and it is amazing, the amount of empty space and empty lots that are there. Whole car dealerships on the Northfield Auto Mile gone, torn down and empty lots. I also noticed the complete lack of anything worthwhile in and around the casino out there.
What blew my mind was the amount of new development and skyscrapers going up around University Circle! That is a boom town, centered around medical, education and the arts. Hmmmmmmm sounds like Lakewood 10 years ago. Perhaps our civic leaders are seeking bids from a second pet store for the new development. Well we know they will at least tell us they did.
I do hope something comes from all of this, but the people steering the ship have a terrible record for making good things happen.

During the hospital debacle, the mayor claimed that "national developers" were interested in the hospital parcel.
Where did they go? Where are the retail chain stores they so desperately want in Lakewood?
All we have so far is a pet store (we already have a nice one on Madison and the one located on Detroit couldn't make it,) and an ice cream shop, supposedly Mitchell's.
Well Mitchells has a store on Detroit in Rocky River, about 2.4 miles away. That's pretty close and I'm not sure Mitchell's will find a store that close to an existing one a good idea.

Have no fear, Mighty Mayor will bring in all of the payroll taxes we need with vape clerk and bartender jobs. Plus, it will make us the healthiest city in America. What more could we ask for?
