Lakewood Going to the Dogs?

Post by Bridget Conant »

While the mayor gives away our public assets and health care, and spends money defending an unenforceable ban on a breed of dog, it appears crime is getting out of hand.

It is being reported that early Sunday morning a young woman was robbed at gunpoint on Westwood Ave near Detroit.

Just hearing about it today, Wednesday.

This is not surprising. It is even worse when crimes happen and City Hall apparently works to “cover them up”.

I posted on a thread the other day regarding an apparent rape/murder that happened a little over three years ago in an apartment building on Clifton.

Despite the heading on the above police report, Fox 8 News told me that someone at City Hall said this was a suicide. How could this be a suicide? There were apparently multiple bullet holes in the wall, according to the report. Also, no weapon was ever recovered from the scene despite the police looking everywhere, including outside the building for it, according to public records. How could this be a suicide if the police are looking outside of the building for the weapon, when the incident supposedly took place inside on the 2nd story of an apartment building? How could it be a suicide when the vicitm's car keys and car are missing?

Bear in mind that this was around the same time that a woman was attacked on Warren Road and also on Lake Avenue in Cleveland. Are the incidents related? We'll probably never know, as City Hall decided to call this a suicide. Come on.

Yes, I believe Lakewood has gone to the dogs recently. 24/7/365 early trash set-outs, numerous armed robberies, and you name it.

It is truly a shame that Defendant Summers has thrown our great city to the dogs because he is too busy hiring lawyers and covering up his alleged wrongdoings to pay attention to any of his duties.

Why is anyone surprised? We had a child rapist living right here and no one knew about it for over 3 months!! Well, I mean, those who knew kept it to themselves and put our children at risk . .

Mr. Summers, City Hall, et al.:

Now that this has come out, please explain the following:

1. How do you come to the conclusion of suicide when no weapon was recovered from the scene, according to the property room?

2. How do you come to the conclusion of suicide when the victim's car keys and car were missing, according to numerous residents inside the building? To my knowledge, these have never been recovered to this day.

3. How do you come to the conclusion of suicide when there were "multiple bullet holes" in the walls of the apartment, according to the police report?

4. How do you come to the conclusion of suicide when 911 tapes said that "bullets were coming through the ceilings and walls"?

5. How do you come to the conclusion of suicide when multiple gunshots were heard?

6. How do you come to the conclusion of suicide when numerous police officers were outside the apartment building for a length of time searching for a weapon?

7. If this truly was a homicide (as the original police report states), why was Fox 8 News apparently told that it was a suicide? Was it truly believed that this was a suicide somehow, or was Fox 8 News simply told this to keep the issue quiet?

It appears that this was a horrendous crime, and not a suicide. Apparently, Lakewood was "going to the dogs" over three years ago. Rather than acknowledging this apparent crime immediately, it appears that City Hall did the public a tremendous disservice via a poor attempt at a cover-up.

I have some thoughts on the Westwood robbery. This happened almost right outside my bedroom window. It was a cool night so we had the window open. I was awake because the older I get the less able I am to sleep through the night, I did not know the time because I did not look. I heard a mans voice loudly say "come on out" then silence and then a car driving away. Was no more than 2 doors down on my side of the street, parking side. Did not think much of it nor did I look at the clock because load noises and people on my street at 2:30 am is common on Friday and Saturday nights with the merry arts right at the bottom of the street as well as jammy bugars. The interesting thing is I heard no cries for help after the fact and I also did not see the blue and red lights of a police car as that would have certainly gotten me out of bed. Now I suppose I could have fallen back asleep and missed all of that but that would be odd as I am a very light sleeper. Could be some missing pieces to this story is all I'm saying.

That's quite possible.

However, the police are reporting it as an armed robbery so based on initial findings, that's what it appears to be.

Even if there is "more" to the story, it concerns me that incidents like this, be they linked to drugs or other criminal activity, seem to be much more frequent.

In the past, I'd not hesitate to walk around my neighborhood at odd hours. Now, no way would I consider it.

Yes I agree. Lakewood does not seem as safe as it once was.

I am also in agreement that Lakewood does not seem as safe as it was. I fear that unless Mr. Summers stops sleeping at the wheel and acknowledges the issues we face, things will only turn worse.

Speaking of Mr. Summers, I am still waiting for his answers to my questions regarding the apparent rape and murder of a 23 year-old female that City Hall apparently felt compelled to cover-up for some reason.
