Lakewood Drivers Relax, Give City Crews Space

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

This morning there was a little commotion on Detroit Ave. which is not uncommon as City Engineers still try to zero in better traffic flow. City trucks going down at a walking pace, now if you are behind them you might not appreciate what they are doing, and what City Hall is doing. Saving us big $$$$$$$$

So if you are caught behind this...

They are tarring over the cracks in the streets. While I often find fault with some of the running of this administration they have been able to keep on their fixed the roads schedules, and the hard work these guys do is just one of many reasons.

Because of our cold, wet winters it is imperative to patch as many cracks as possible. And the heat of summer is the perfect time. Cracks are blown clean, hot tar crefully laid to bridge the gap, and a cool mist to make it safe to drive on. Summer heat does the rest helping it seep into cracks for a good bond.

But this might be all you see.

Cracks, turn into chuck holes, chuck holes put cars out of alignment, and can be a safety hazard. So we pay for road rebuilding, or pay for alignments and repairs, OR, we give city crews a nice safe bubble, where they can take their time, and do the least expensive alternative and a damn good job for all of us.
