Lakewood Fire Department Saves Another One!

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Around 4:30pm the Lakewood Fire Department received a phone call there was a man in the water off Maple Cliff Drive screaming for help.

Lakewood Fire arrived and found a man clinging to a paddle board about 800' out.

They got the LFD boat out went out and rescued the man, brought him back to the lagoon dock, then transported him to Metro.

A person watching the entire thing from the CYC Porch said, "I thought it was a drill. We have the best Fire Department!"

He also went on to say the person was out way to far to be on a paddle board, and should pay for the rescue.

From boat leaving dock to person in the ambulance was under 12 minutes!

Great work Lakewood Fire and Police Departments!

20 knot south wind and 39 degree water. Questionable conditions for paddle boarding. Next stop Port Rondeau.
