The Clinic donates city-owned land back to the city. How generous!
When gas-lighting finally takes your BS story too far...!

When asked about this, Mr. Bullard (the author) courteously recognized that this was inaccurate. The story is now updated, omitting the line about "donated to the city by the Cleveland Clinic."

I emailed him when I first read the artcle to point out the error. Since I didn't receive a response I thought he was going to ignore the error. Good for him.
I wonder, did someone tell him or imply that the land did not belong the City?
The City owned the land, buildings, supplies, equipment, the $55 million in cash, all of the receivables and all assets of every kind including the business and building on Columbia road that was worth at least $15 million.
The supporters of the Mayor are still telling people that the City owned nothing.
The City also had a vested interest in the Lakewood Hospital Foundation that was worth $34 million.
We gave it all up for a bag of magic beans.

Well, first we are talking about 5 acres or so.
Mckinley Place sits on about 3 acres and will have about 40 units. One of the bidders for the Hospital propert envisions 250 housing units, public space and Kiosks (?).
How is that going to work?

A recent Scientific American story described the phenomenon of "blue lies."
https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/gu ... s-support/
Worth reading, I think, independent of any specific applicability.…a psychologist’s term for falsehoods, told on behalf of a group, that can actually strengthen the bonds among the members of that group. Blue lies are […] simultaneously selfish and beneficial to others — but only to those who belong to your group. As University of Toronto psychologist Kang Lee explained, blue lies fall in between generous white lies and selfish “black” ones. “You can tell a blue lie against another group,” he said, which makes it simultaneously selfless and self-serving. “For example, you can lie about your team’s cheating in a game, which is antisocial, but helps your team.”

That the City owned nothing has been a part of the City-preferred story all along. A reporter finally took it at face value and published it. I find this to be revealing of the "gaslighting" or the "blue lies" that have been in play. A sadly satisfying oopsie.Bill Call wrote:I emailed him when I first read the artcle to point out the error. Since I didn't receive a response I thought he was going to ignore the error.
