Accident On Clifton Knocks Out Power For 2,000 More Homes Friday Night

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Last night around 9:30pm, a man driving U-Haul Van driving West in the Eastbound Lane of Clifton Boulevard, lost control, climbed the curb, hitting a pole, a car, a fire hydrant, car, car, car going through 2 more yards including Fire Station 3, where it hit another pole and came to a stop.

Traveling from left to right hits pole, car, hydrant, car, car, car, fire station 3, pole.

What made this worse, is that it knocked out power to an additional 2,000 homes as First Energy struggles to keep up with storm damage across Ohio.

So the call came in, "We will get to it when we can, still on storm damage." Finally today it was secured.

Down the street, First Energy crews repairs the broken pole in front of Lincoln School.

Some homes in Lakewood still without power.

Good work Lakewood Police and Fire, and thanks to First Energy.

I guess we were lucky. Our power was only out for about an hour and a half.

Circles and arrows on photos will always remind me of lyrics from Arlo Guthrie's epic Alices Restaurant.

"... twenty-seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one describing what each one was as evidence to be used against us ..."
"So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.
Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?"
