How Can The Media Prevent Fake News?
With all the talk of "Fake News" we ask the community, what is the best way to fight it?
Here at the LO we have presented far more documents about the "hospital debacle" than any other news source, and or City Hall.
But with "fake news" being the new fondue, lets ask the community, how do we fight for the truth?
Please if you are not a member, join, and or take the questionnaire on page 1

As a community working together we will address this.

Dr. Jim,
My answer to both of your questions is that we must fight these fakes on the land, sea and air with the truth.
We must all be vigilant and stand up for the truth and against the "fake news" bullies like Uldricks, Carson's Dark Money Voters for "Progress" and the lies of Build Lakewood.
You and the Lakewood Observer stood up to the bullies and they tried to punish you with a lawsuit, but you won.
But now Uldricks & Co. are angry (again) and using their "fake news" toys to lash back--now it seems at Lakewood women speaking the truth.
It is truly ironic that Uldricks gets very angry at truthful news and calls it "fake news."

The media must want to end "fake news"
Taking the mayor of Lakewood's word at face value time and time again will only continue the cycle of "fake news".
After all, the mayor of Lakewood does appear to have his own private press secretary, Bruce Gieselman!
Seriously, I cannot recall the last time that Bruce Gieselman told the complete truth if it meant portraying the mayor of Lakewood in a negative light.
If the media does not want to end fake news, it will never end.

Re: How Can The Media Prevent Fake News?
On your page 1 survey, you offer "all of the above" but it's on the same line as real names. I'd like to see it on it's own line, and also on the version on this thread. That's the one I would choose,.
"Fake news" started out to be a real thing but has quickly turned into a red herring. National officials accuse established news sources like CNN and The New York Times as being "fake news" while putting out their own BS, i.e. Bowling Green, Sweden, Atlanta. Locally, the former building inspector, who now appears to be a regional editor for an online news source, has accused the LO of "fake news" while it has long been his M.O.
The main examples of "fake news" come from Facebook and Twitter where they are fairly easy to pick out by anyone with familiarity with established news sources. If it you don't recognize the source (and learn the name of UK pubs like The Guardian), and seems outrageous, consider it skeptically.
The print LO has good protections in place against "fake news" with the several gatekeepers who edit each issue. The Deck's protection against fake news is an active member base that doesn't hesitate to cry bullshit when needed. If something slips by, corrections are posted.

Brian, Lori
This was meant more as a general question instead of some under handed slow pitch to swing act.
I m not doing this as an answer to anything. The term of the week is "Fake News" Trump says real names on quotes cure it. So I too wondered what people want for proof on a news story.
Brian, Lori
No one has presented more real documents and links than you two. Yet you are easily marginalized by those committing the acts.
Aren't you even getting a little curious what Lakewoodites want, and why?

I know what the Observer can do: Don't print crap from Team Summers.
I'm sure some of them will lift their embargo when Election Day approaches and they want free media for their campaigns.
I hope the LO Editorial Staff doesn't allow them to utilize the same institution that they are trying to put out of business.

Yes, the administration is using all their resources to continue to attack the LO.
WITNESS:
Someone is intent on attacking and disparaging the Observer.

So Rick doesn't like the Observer?
Go figure? Yawn?
Really, if you want to start a thread about whatever, same to everyone, but let's try to focus here.
