Friday Shooting - 1 Male Charged Attempted Murder

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Friday night, police were called to Hird and Detroit Avenue for two people shot, and shooter on the loose.

Witnesses said, the male had gotten into an argument with someone, went and got a gun and shot up Detroit Avenue, hitting two bystanders.

Cars in the area were hit, and that is a damn big bullet hole!

Lakewood Police and Fire responded getting the two to the hospital, securing the area, and by Saturday afternoon had 23-year-old Trevante Jenkins in custody and charged with attempted murder.

Great work Lakewood Police and Fire.

First, thank you to our officers and fire fighters who are in harms way every time they are on duty. We may not like them when we get a ticket, but we sure are glad to see them when we need help. The lack of respect and support of police officers in this country is sickening.

I bet Lord Lakewood was not happy to see this story hit the Deck. Thank you Jim for always giving us the truth, the good and the bad.

My concern is that this gunman was out and about in our city for several hours before getting caught.

In my opinion, if Summers and Council were not so busy trying to cover their asses for the alleged theft of the hospital, alleged money laundering, alleged illegal use of HUD funds and Community grant money, and most importantly, the alleged theft of Lakewood resident's homes, especially the elderly, terminally ill, blacks, hispanics, etc., they would be able to do the jobs they were hired to do. One job is knowing your neighborhoods and what is going on in them.

As a Safety Director, Summer's is a failure. He needs to get out of the way of the police and let them do their jobs. How can an alleged crook be in charge of our police department? Hmmmmmmm.

Some people have trouble dealing with the truth. It appears this story never made it on TV news and it was not even in the Plain Dealer today.

How long does Summers think he can keep hiding crime from the citizens of Lakewood? Since he himself appears to be guilty of alleged hospital theft, alleged money laundering, alleged theft and destruction of the under served resident's homes in Lakewood, maybe he thinks more like a criminal.

Never in my 26 years as a Lakewood resident did I ever think that I could get hit by a flying bullet from a criminal. This city is getting out of control and there is one person to blame. I believe it is the Mayor/ Safety Director.

By the way Mr. Mayor, I am still waiting for your response to my question here on the Deck about the recent rape that you appear to be hiding from the Lakewood residents. It appears that you have no respect or regard for the women and children of the community you are supposed to be protecting. You are a failure. Do us all a favor and resign.

Patrick

I've been through this 4 times, not this bad. I said in June of 2015, this gets ugly. It will get uglier, people have to vent.

As far as reporting this and other stories, I do what I can, always hard to figure out where and what falls where.

I prefer reporting this stuff only if the police are looking, or if they did amazing work catching the criminal.

Lakewood Police and Fire and very good, very good.

I just wanted to bring to the Lakewood citizen's attention that in less than three weeks time, at the eastern end of Lakewood, there have been 3 armed robberies, 1 drive by shooting, and now a gunman shooting up Detroit Avenue.

There was also another rape.

How about a few words from our Safety Director?

Has anyone seen a press release, news story, or a story one OneLakewood.com about this incident? Has their been any comment from Mr. Summers or has he chosen to remain silent? The same about the Sept. 28th rape here in Lakewood would be great, also. Should we be worried or not? A press release or a statement from Mr. Summers would answer this question.
