Call to Action - City Hall and Telamon Construction

Post by Lori Allen _ »

For this year's portion of the sidewalk replacement program, City Hall hired Telamon Construction as the concrete contractor. This Summer, Telamon has been grinding, leveling, and replacing bad sidewalk slabs in Lakewood, mostly in the central part of town. On at least four occasions, I have noticed Telamon being rather disrepsectful and negligent in our community. Specifically:

Telamon, several times, has left the work site for the weekend and has left construction debris, vehicles, and large mounds of gravel parked on residential streets. They should be taking their equipment home with them every night and weekend. Residents pay taxes and are paying Telamon (in a roundabout way) to do work for the city through their tax dollars.

For the past week or so, Telamon has been working on sidewalks on Lake between Belle & Nicholson. Thus far, Telamon has left a front-end loader and a large mound of gravel on Whippoorwill Ave. for several days, with nothing being done with it. This is right near a school where children walk and parents usually park to pick up their kids.

Also notice this pile of gravel and all of these vehicles left on a somewhat blind curve at Marlowe & Ramona over a weekend:

Furthermore, Telamon has pulled these shenanigans on Merl and Nicholson Avenues as well.

Wilbert Rd. is in the grid to have sidewalks done this year too. Thus far, I have not seen any gravel piles or vehicles abandoned on Wilbert Rd. yet. Hmm...

Telamon, please be respectful of our neighborhoods. Please do not leave all of your gravel and vehicles on our streets for weeks on end, and please take your equipment overnight and on weekends.

City Hall, please consider another contractor for next year's sidewalk program. The previous two contractors were, in my opinion, far superior in terms of respect for neighborhoods than Telamon.
